2026-27 School Year Enrollment Opens May 1st
High School
Taught by Adriana Mancuso-Moniz
This year-long introductory film course explores the art of cinema through weekly screenings, discussion, and analysis. Students will learn the fundamentals of film language including storytelling, cinematography, editing, and sound while engaging with a wide range of films across genres, time periods, and cultures. Each week, students will be required to watch one assigned film, along with an occasional additional film selected from a curated list to further expand their exposure to different styles and perspectives. Viewings may take place at home or in class, depending on the film and schedule.
All required films will be rated PG-13 or lower. Suggested films may include a broader range of ratings, including some R-rated titles, and families are encouraged to use their own discretion when selecting additional viewing.
The class places a strong emphasis on connection, encouraging students to share perspectives, think critically, and expand how they see both film and the world around them while building an appreciation for cinema as a powerful form of visual storytelling.
This is a full year course that runs on Wednesdays from 9:45-10:45
