Class Description

This class for high school and middle school students will teach and develop the skills necessary to speak in front of a group with clarity and confidence. We will start by focusing on fundamentals of speaking aloud (diction, projection, body language) and then integrate structure and content into their speeches. Classwork will include exercises to develop specific speaking skills, analysis of speech from TED talks and movie scenes, and developing their own speeches, arguments, and presentations. In addition to speaking, peer feedback will be an important part of the course.

Estimate of an hour a week

Public Speaking is a full year course that meets on Wednesdays from 12:15-1:15

Pricing

Materials Fee: $15 paid directly to Jen

Public Speaking is offered as part of our Comprehensive 3-Day high school program OR as a stand alone class for middle and high schoolers with a monthly cost of $60.
